Lifeguard Position:
- Responsibilities:
- Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the facility and respond quickly to all emergencies.
- Perform preventive lifeguarding and enforce rules to keep patrons safe.
- Stay alert to recognize when a patron is struggling in the water.
- Ability to work as a part of a team to perform tasks (first aid, cleaning, etc.) and to effectively respond in an emergency.
- Effectively communicate with staff and patrons.
- Ability to listen to and implement corrective feedback.
- Hourly Wage: $12 - $14 hour
- Starting pay adjustable depending on previous lifeguard experience.
- Requirements:
- 15 years of age or older.
- Ability to pass a pre-lifeguard training swim test that consists of the following:
- Prerequisite #1:
- Jump into the water and totally submerge, resurface then swim 150 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both.
- Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs.
- Swim 50 yards using front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both.
- Prerequisite #2:
- Starting in the water, swim 20 yards.
- Surface dive to a depth of 7 – 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
- Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping the face out at or near the surface.
- Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.

- Preemployment Red Cross Lifeguard training & certification are provided at no cost.
Swim Instructor Position:
- Responsibilities:
- Teach swim technique, strokes, and water safety rules to students of varied ages and abilities.
- Assess students’ progress and provide feedback.
- Adapt lesson plans according to students’ needs and goals.
- Ability to work as a part of a team to perform tasks and to effectively respond in an emergency.
- Effectively communicate with staff and participants.
- Develop and improve your own skills and knowledge as a swim instructor.
- Ability to listen to and implement feedback
- Hourly Wage:
- $16 hour for public lessons.
- $20 hour for private lessons.
- Schedule:
- 24 hours or more per week (Summer)
- Requirements:
- 16 years of age or older.
- Previous competitive, lifeguarding, or instructional swim experience.
- Training:
- Red Cross Water Safety Instructor training & certification provided at no cost.
